AD-TEK SS

Shotcrete Stabilizer – Aqueous Solution

Description

AD-TEK SS is used for cement hydration control, providing the setting and hardening stabilisation of shotcrete mixes for long periods without negatively affecting their quality. The stabilised shotcrete mixes can be reactivated hours later with AD-TEK SA after delivering them to the building site.

AD-TEK SS is in accordance with Australian Standard AS1478.1 – 2000 as a Special Purpose Retarding Admixture.

MSDS

Uses

AD-TEK SS is used when the prevention of cement hydration is required for wet or dry shotcrete. The main uses are:

  • Rock support in mine and tunnel construction
  • Final lining or temporary protection of sewer tunnels, city tubes, railways, roads, and hydropower projects
  • Working pit, slope, and rock stabilisation
  • Repair of construction structures
  • High-grade shotcrete for general construction work

Advantages

  • Blocks cement hydration for 3 to 72 hours without loss of quality
  • Provides flexibility from batching through delivery and storage
  • Time and cost savings through better allocation of materials, equipment, and manpower
  • Can be activated and accelerated with AD-TEK SA without loss of quality
  • Does not contain materials promoting steel corrosion

Application

AD-TEK SS should be added to the shotcrete mix at the final stage of batching prior to dosing with the hyperplasticizer AD-TEK SH. The stabilised shotcrete mix is transported by transmixers to the building site. During shotcreting, AD-TEK SA accelerator is added at the spray nozzle to initiate fast setting.

Dosage

The recommended dose rate is between 250 – 2000 ml per 100 kg of cement depending on the required retardation time. Preliminary trials on site should be conducted to determine the required dosage rates.

Packaging

AD-TEK SS is available in 20-litre and 1000-litre containers and in bulk.

Storage and Shelf Life

AD-TEK SS has a shelf life of at least 6 months if stored above 0ºC in an unopened container made of plastic, glass fibre, or stainless steel. If AD-TEK SS has frozen, thaw at above 1ºC with mild mechanical agitation.
